Im Jahr 2020 wurde ich von Julia Rensing eingeladen, im Rahmen ihrer Doktorarbeit ein Interview über meine künstlerische Praxis zu geben. Daraus entwickelte sich ein inspirierender Austausch von Gedanken und Kunstwerken zwischen uns. Inzwischen hat Julia ihre Dissertation erfolgreich abgeschlossen – sie ist nun unter dem Titel Troubling Archives – Geschichte und Erinnerung in der namibischen Literatur und Kunst als Buch veröffentlicht worden.

Aber natürlich wäre es toll, wenn ihr das Buch auch bestellt und die Autorin in ihrer Arbeit unterstützt – so ein Buch in der Hand zu halten, ist doch immer noch etwas Besonderes.

In Kapitel 2 mit dem Titel Artistic Archival Interventions and Memory Conversions (Künstlerische Archivinterventionen und Gedächtnisumwandlungen) werden mehrere meiner Arbeiten eingehend analysiert, darunter Memory Series, Roots & Branches und A Thorny Issue. Meine Werke werden in diesem Kapitel gemeinsam mit denen meiner namibischen Kollegin Tuli Mekondjo betrachtet – ein spannender Dialog entsteht, der unsere künstlerischen Zugänge zu Erinnerung und Geschichte gegenüberstellt und miteinander verknüpft.

Herbstzeit ist Kreativzeit! Ab September gibt’s wieder neue Kurse an der VHS Oberhavel– alle Termine & Themen im Überblick.

Zeit für ein Geständnis:
Es macht mir wahnsinnig viel Freude meine Kurse und Workshops für Erwachsene hier in Oranienburg anbieten zu können.

Warum? Weil ich dabei so tolle, kreative und weltoffene Menschen kennenlerne, die ich auf ihrer kreativen Entdeckungsreise sanft leiten und aufmunternd begleiten darf. Mich mit ihnen über ihre Fortschritte, Erkenntnisse und happy-accidents freuen kann.

An dieser Stelle möchte ich einfach mal DANKE sagen, an alle die sich schon mit mir auf ein kreatives Abenteuer eingelassen haben, gewachsen sind und gelernt haben ihrer Intuition und Schöpfungsgabe immer mehr zu vertrauen! Die Offenheit, Herzlichkeit und der Mut, den ihr mitbringt, macht das Unterrichten auch für mich zu einer ganz besonderen Zeit die ich nicht mehr missen will. Und welch ein Geschenk ist es, immer wieder neue, spannende Menschen aus der Umgebung durch diese Kurse kennenlernen zu dürfen!

Die Beziehungen die in den Kursen entstehen, tragen jede auf ihre Art zur schöpferischen Lebendigkeit aller bei. Und genau dass ist, was wir in diesen aktuellen schwierigen Zeiten brauchen um uns und die Welt zu heilen und positiv zu verändern.

Besonders freue ich mich auch darauf, dass die Kurse ab September in der KulturFUGE in Oranienburg, André-Pican-Straße 40 stattfinden werden. Das renovierte Gebäude bietet ein neues großes und helles ART-Labor in dem wir viel Platz und eine tolle Atmosphere haben zum kreativ arbeiten, spielen und experimentieren.

Intuitiver Prozess

Im Kurs ‚Mut zur intuitiven Malerei‘ werde ich in Zukunft den Fokus noch mehr auf das Intuitive legen. Wie höre ich meine Intuition und lasse mich mutig auf sie ein – unabhängig von dem Resultat. Wie mache ich mich frei von Erwartungen und Vorstellungen? Die Kreativität dient als Prozess zum Loslassen, Vertrauen und sich selbst besser kennenzulernen. Wir trainieren unsere Intuition um noch authentischere Bilder zu malen.

Sinnbildlich würdet ihr lernen eure eigene, innere Sprache frei auszudrücken, um dabei in einen tiefen Dialog mit euch selbst zu treten. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Prozess, die Achtsamkeit und das Vertrauen.

Bewußtes Ziel

Im ‚Die Sprache der Abstraktion’ Kurs lernen wir wie man bewußt und gezielt die Methoden der Abstraktion einsetzt um Ideen, Bilder oder Gefühle auszudrücken. Ihr entwickelt und übt eure eigene Form- und Bildsprache um überzeugende Kunst zu erschaffen.

Sinnbildlich könnte man sagen, es ist wie eine Sprache und deren Grammatik lernen und beherrschen um gut kommunizieren zu können. Wenn man die Grundsätze der Sprache kennt, kann man mit ihr auch experimentieren, und über die einfache Kommunikation hinaus zur meisterlichen Poesie gelangen.

Art Journaling bietet eine ungezwungene Form seinen persönlichen, authentischen Ausdruck zu finden und kreativ zu leben. In diesem Kurs erlernst du verschiedene Methoden, wie du das Art Journal als tägliches, meditatives Ritual nutzen kannst. Durch das Experimentieren mit unterschiedlichsten Materialien und spannenden Techniken, die die Sinne anregen, lernst du deinem kreativen Prozess zu vertrauen und ihn bewusst zu nutzen.

Spannende visuelle Verbindungen erschaffen

Collagen sind eine spannende und einfache Methode tolle Bilder zu erstellen, die keine künstlerischen Vorkenntnisse voraussetzen. Hier geht es vor allem um das kreative Spielen und Experimentieren mit verschiedenen Materialien.

Für die Collagen werden als Basis Bilder aus Zeitschriften, Buchseiten, gefundene Papiere mit unterschiedlichen Farben oder Texturen und vieles mehr verwendet.

Darauf wird nach belieben mit Farben, Stiften, Garn oder anderem Material weiter gearbeitet. Wir lernen die Grundlagen um eine ausdrucksstarke mixed-media Collage zu entwickeln: unterschiedliche Materialien, Komposition und Zusammenführung.

👉 Noch sind Plätze frei – ich freue mich, wenn du dabei bist.

Das kreativste Buch überhaupt…

Der englische Name “Junk Journal” steht für Reste oder Ramsch – man verwertet bei der Herstellung hauptsächlich unterschiedliche Papier- und Materialreste, Stoffe, Pappverpackungen und vieles mehr und zaubert dadurch ein einzigartiges neues Buch im Shabby-Chic Stil.

Junk Journals eignen sich als Art Journals, Notiz- oder Skizzenbücher und auch als besondere Geschenke mit viel Persönlichkeit.

My Art in the Iwalewahaus Collection

The Iwalewahaus from the University of Bayreuth has acquired two art series from me.  The Iwalewahaus has a great collection of modern and contemporary visual art and popular culture from Africa, Asia and the Pacific regions, which is unrivalled in Germany.

I feel immensely honoured and very happy that my works will become part of this unique publicly accessible collection.

Both works are about the Namibian colonial history and how we are dealing with it today.

The Horse is a Problem. The Horse Must Go. Imke Rust, 6 sheets, Acrylic on green paper, 60x50cm each

‚The Horse is a Problem. The Horse Must Go.’ Consists of six works (Acrylic on green paper, 60 x 50cm each) which relate to the equestrian monument from colonial times, as well as the new statue of an unknown soldier erected on Heroe’s Acre by Koreans. The title derives from a speech made by former president Pohamba.

While the German-speaking Namibians speak of the Reiter (Rider), English-speakers usually refer to the Horse, when they speak about the equestrian monument. This difference in interpretation and naming is interesting, as it shows our differences in perception and thinking. Both, horse and rider, form a part of something bigger, which again is symbolic of something else. Some people want to save the rider others see the horse as the root of the problem. As long as we are not prepared to call the problems by their real names, acknowledge all parts and search for a joint solution it will be a challenge and we will fight about something very superficial.

Added to that, is the fact that the modern statues are no less problematic. Statues which were build after independence to unify the nation and celebrate more recent heroes of the independence struggle have been ordered from an Asian catalogue and installed by the North-Koreans. Hardly any Namibian can really identify with these statues, especially since they look more Asian than Namibian.

Who Cares About the Horse? Imke Rust, Mixed Media on paper, 3 sheets, each 29 x 21cm

The second series which was bought is entitled: ‘Who Cares About the Horse?’.

It consists of three pages (mixed media on paper, 29 x 21cm each). In 2008, South African artist William Kentridge showed the video artwork ‘I am not me, the horse is not mine.’ The title speaks of the denial of guilt and this has inspired my series of works. Each page shows an image from the German colonial times in Namibia. The first page shows a young Herero boy with a horse and the typed text ‘I am me. The horse is not mine.’ The second page shows a German officer on his horse and the text ‘I am me. The horse is mine.’ The third page shows a Herero man on a riding ox and the text ‘I am me. Who cares about the horse?’

This light-hearted work reminds us, to be stand by who we are, acknowledge the guilt we all carry and then we can find alternative, peaceful solutions which make the question about the ‘horse’ redundant.

Das Iwalewahaus der Universität von Bayreuth hat zwei meiner Arbeitsserien für ihre Sammlung angekauft. Das Iwalewahaus verfügt über eine in Deutschland einzigartige Sammlung moderner und zeitgenössischer bildender Kunst und populärer Kultur aus Afrika, Asien und dem pazifischen Raum.

Es ist für mich eine große Ehre und eine besondere Freude, das meine Arbeiten nun in dieser einzigartigen Sammlung öffentlich zugänglich sein werden.

Die beiden Arbeiten befassen sich mit der namibischen Kolonialgeschichte und unseren heutigen Umgang mit ihr.

Detail: Reiter, denk mal

‚The Horse is a Problem. The Horse Must Go.’ Besteht aus sechs Blättern (Acrylic auf grünem Papier, je 60 x 50cm) die sich mit dem Umgang mit dem Reiterdenkmal aus der Kolonialzeit, aber auch der Statue des unbekannten Soldaten die von Nordkorea auf dem Heldenacker errichtet wurde, befassen. Der Titel ist von einer Aussage des ehemaligen Präsidenten Pohamba abgeleitet.

Während die Deutschen vom Reiterdenkmal reden, wird von Anderssprachigen meist nur von dem Pferd geredet. Schon in diesen unterschiedlichen Interpretationen von einer Sache sehe ich interessante Andeutungen, wie unterschiedlich wir denken und die Situation wahrnehmen. Beides, Pferd und Reiter, sind Teil eines Ganzen und Sinnbild für etwas anderes. Die einen wollen den Reiter erhalten, die anderen sehen das Pferd als Problem. Solange wir nicht bereit sind die eigentlichen Probleme beim Namen zu nennen, alle ihre Teile anzuerkennen und dafür gemeinsam Lösungen zu finden, ist es schwierig und wir streiten uns sehr emotional um Oberflächliches.

Dazu kommt, das die neuen Denkmäler oft nicht weniger zwiespältig zu deuten sind. Denkmäler die nach der Unabhängigkeit die Bevölkerung vereinen sollen und die Helden des Unabhänigkeitskampfes feiern, wurden aus einem Nordkoreanischem Katalog bestellt und auch von ihnen angefertigt. Identitätsstiftend wirken sie kaum auf irgendeinen ein Namibier, zumal sie meist ehr asiatische Gesichtszüge aufweisen als namibische.  

Die zweite Arbeitsserie die angekauft wurde heißt: ‚Who Cares About the Horse?’ und besteht aus drei Blättern (Mischtechnik auf Papier, je 29 x 21cm).

In 2008 zeigte der Südafrikanische Künstler William Kentridge eine Videoarbeit ‚I am not me, the horse is not mine.’ Der Titel, der von einer Schuldabweisung spricht, hat diese Serie inspiriert. Auf jedem Blatt ist ein Bild aus der deutschen Kolonialzeit zu sehen. Auf dem ersten ist ein Herero Junge mit einem Pferd zu sehen, dazu der Text: ‚I am me. The Horse is not mine’. Das zweite zeigt einen Schutztruppler, hoch zu Ross, dazu der Text ‚I am me. The horse is mine.’ Das dritte Bild zeigt einen Herero auf einem Reitochsen mit dem Text ‚I am me. Who cares about the horse?’

Diese Arbeit soll auf eine lustige Weise daran erinnern, das wir alle ehrlich dazu stehen sollten wer sie sind und welche Schuld wir alle tragen. Dann wäre es vielleicht einfacher uns auf alternative Lösungen zu konzentrieren und die die Frage nach dem ‚Pferd’ überflüssig machen.  

Ein „Selfie“ – mal ganz anders

Körper – Bild – Landschaft Workshop an der KVHS

In den Sozialen Medien sind tausende Selfies zu finden. Und fast jeder der ein Smartphone hat, hat schon mal Eins gemacht. Ob mit oder ohne sexy Pose, Schmolllippen, Duck face  oder aus der Figur-schmeichelnden-von-oben-herab Perspektive… Wir alle haben das Bedürfnis erkannt und gesehen zu werden – so wie wir uns selbst wahrnehmen.

Aber wer sind wir wirklich? Und wie können wir die vielen Schichten und Wahrheiten die uns ausmachen, selbst bewusster erkennen und ausdrücken?

In dem neuen Kurs der Kreisvolkshochschule Oberhavel erstellen die Teilnehmer*innen ein lebensgroßes Selbstbildnis mit Farben, Formen, Symbolen, Bildern und Texten. Du brauchst weder künstlerisches Talent oder Vorerfahrung, nur die Bereitschaft und Lust, dich selber besser kennenzulernen und in einer Gruppensituation zu arbeiten.

Bei dem Workshop geht es um Kreativität, unsere Identität, Körper und unsere Geschichten. 

Diese Dinge bewusster wahrzunehmen, Verbindungen zu erkennen und Wege zu finden das alles für sich selbst auszudrücken… Dazu werden wir uns körperlich bewegen, malen/zeichnen und auch erzählen,  alles immer nur soweit wie es für jeden angenehm ist.

Angelehnt an das Prinzip von Body Mapping (das in den 90er-Jahren in Südafrika als Selbsthilfe für Frauen mit HIV/Aids entwickelt wurde), Äthiopische Heilrollen und verschiedene Mythologien und antikem Wissen aus der ganzen Welt habe ich (Imke Rust, bildende Künstlerin) den Körper-Bild-Landschaften Workshop konzipiert.

Auf großen Papierbögen lernen die Teilnehmer*innen ihre ganz persönliche Geschichte auszudrücken. Die Körperform funktioniert dabei wie eine Landkarte und ich zeige, wie man spielerisch und kreativ eigene Symbole und Ausdrucksformen entwickelt und mehr Selbsterkenntnis erlangt.

Am Ende hat man einen tiefen Einblick erlangt, was die eigene Körper- und Seelenlandschaft ausmacht und in welcher Beziehung wir zu unserer Umwelt stehen. Ausserdem haben wir jeder ein ganz individuelles, spannendes und vielsagendes „Selfie“ erstellt, das wir mit nach Hause nehmen können.

Vision Boards – Ziele kreativ Visualisieren

Kennst du das auch: man nimmt sich so vieles schönes vor und ehe man sich versieht ist der Monat rum, das Jahr auch schon fast wieder und man hat das Gefühl gar nichts erreicht zu haben?
 
Oft gehen unsere Träume und Pläne unter, weil es uns schwerfällt uns auf sie zu konzentrieren. Oder wir glauben insgeheim nicht wirklich daran, das wir etwas schaffen oder das unsere Wünsche in Erfüllung gehen könnten…
 
Das kann sich ändern und ich zeige dir wie!

Vision Boards helfen uns Klarheit zu bekommen über unsere Träume, Ziele und Visionen fürs Leben. Wenn wir diese dann in Formen und Visionen auf Papier umsetzen und sie kreativ Ausdrücken, verleihen wir ihnen Kraft und Momentum.

In diesem Workshop erfährst du was Vision Boards sind und wie sie funktionieren. Jeder erstellt sein eigenes Vision Board: eine besondere Art der Collage mit ausgeschnittenen Bildern aus Zeitschriften, Skizzen, Farben, Texten, Affirmationen und Zielen.

Du brauchst keine vorherige Erfahrung um die einfachen Techniken zu lernen und diese für dich und deine persönliche Zukunftsgestaltung positiv einzusetzen.
Ich leite durch den Prozess, erkläre praktische Techniken, Hintergründe zu dem ‚warum’ und wie solche Vision Boards funktionieren und unterstütze bei der Zielformulierung.

Die Natur ist der beste Platz unsere Seele aufblühen zu lassen und neue Impulse in unser Leben zu bringen.

Sie brauchen keine Vorkenntnisse, nur Offenheit, Freude an der Natur und Lust etwas Neues zu lernen.

Entdecken Sie die Natur und deren Farben und Formen auf gestalterische und kreative Weise. Nach einer kurzen Einführung in den kunstgeschichtlichen Hintergrund der Land Art Bewegung sammeln wir Naturmaterialien, die wir draußen vorfinden und gestalten ein oder mehrere vergängliche Werke, die wir fotografisch dokumentieren können. Bitte mitbringen: Wetterfeste Kleidung, Handy oder Digitalkamera, Schere, Taschenmesser, Kleinigkeiten für ein gemeinsames Picknick am zweiten Tag, Sonnen- und Insektenschutz.

Auf großen Papierbögen entwickeln wir ein lebensgroßes Bild, basierend auf dem Umriss unseres eigenen Körpers. Inspiriert von Body Mapping, Äthiopischen Heilrollen und afrikanischer Mythologie, experimentieren wir mit Farben, Symbolen, Text und Mustern. Dabei können Sie auch Ihre Emotionen und Ideen kreativ umsetzen, sich und Ihren Körper besser kennenlernen und bewusster wahrnehmen. Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.

(Auf PINTREST habe ich eine Seite mit Vorbildern was Äthiopische Heilrollen sind und wie Body Mapping aussieht. Unser Kurs Körperbildlandschaften ist ein wenig an beides angelehnt, aber ganz anders…)

Wuppertal, Munich and Travelling Back in Time

Do you also have the feeling that your life has become so busy, that you have no time for all the stuff you want to do? Or to read all the blogs you are subscribed to?

The first quarter of the year is almost passed and somehow I have neglected my blog. Well, many things are happening and keeping me busy – which is mostly good news. Another reason is that with so many things, which are happening on all fronts (personal, family, political, career etc), I am left with so many impressions, thoughts, ideas, questions… It feels as if I have so much to say and to share, and yet I do not know where to start. It feels as if I would need another lifetime to sort all ideas and find the right way to share them. Or a personal assistant… Or a way to magically write down all that is in my mind within a few hours.

So I am trying to navigate these times, which feel chaotic and alive, terrifying and promising at the same time, as best and honestly as I can. To live each moment more consciously and deliberately waiting to find clarity, allowing life to unfold its plan at its own pace. I am considering writing shorter, but more frequent blogs… let’s see if that is a better way to deal with my and your busy life and still stay in touch.

A quick update:

My exhibition in Munich has just finished. It was very well visited and the highlight was, that a friend has organised for me to fly to Munich and talk about my art to interested guests in a guided tour of my exhibition. I really enjoy that direct contact with the people who are interested my art. Most of my art is filled with layers of meaning and thoughts, and people have commented how enriching they find to look at the art, and then additionally hear me talk about it.

I had another exhibition opening in March, at the Museum auf der Hardt, Wuppertal.

The exhibition and screening of the documentary film about my land art project ‘An Infinite Scream’ was part of a Symposium organized by the Vereinte Evangelische Mission.

The symposium included presentations and discussions, and I was very happy and honoured to meet the main speaker, Mr Henning Melber (right)

Only shortly before the event, I realised that I have a much deeper connection to this museum and place than I could have imagined. My Great-Great-Grandfather Eduard Dannert and Great-Grandfather August Kuhlmann were both missionaries in Namibia and were sent by this very same institution to Africa. Needless to say, the museum and archives have lots of information, documentation and objects from these ancestors of mine, like for instance the sewing machine of my Great-Grandmother… and this sewing machine, together with a letter which August Kuhlmann wrote to General von Trotha trying to convince him to treat the Herero people more humanly were exhibited in the same space, next to my political works. What an honour and humbling experience.

Life… This is the sewing machine of my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Kuhlmann. It has been donated to the Museum auf der Hardt in Wuppertal some years ago by a distant relative/aunt. NOW I am going to exhibit in exactly this museum, with my artwork in the same room as my great-grandmother’s sewing machine. Such an unexpected surprise! And weird coincidence to find this connection in Wuppertal.
I have spent 2 days in the archives of the ‘Vereinte Evangelishe Mission’ who have a vast amount of old documents from the missionary activities in Namibia (amongst others). I could page through hundreds of letters and reports written by my great-great-grandfather, my grand-father and some from their wifes. So interesting and informative. I have been so grateful for the people who have already researched and typed some of the information, as the old German lettering and handwriting is damn difficult to decipher. Seeing history through the eyes of my own ancestors is so helpful and interesting, giving a very personal account of how they saw the world and how and why they acted the way they did. I feel blessed to have so much information about my ancestors, not only within the family, but also, additionally in well-organized and accessible archives. And I could see that my ancestors already questioned what was happening and tried to get involved as best they can, given their circumstances. Missionary August Kuhlmann (my great-grandfather) wrote several letters to von Trotha and von Lindequist, pleading and arguing for a more humane and fair treatment of the Herero people. This photo is from one such letter displayed in the museum currently.

The curator Museum auf der Hardt has decided to add some links from the archives related to my ancestors to the exhibition. Like this photo. I notice the love of cats goes back a few generations.

Lucky Free Workshop Recipients

I made a list of all the old subscribers (who wanted to participate) and new subscribers. This morning I was happy to have Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, an artist from Ghana who currently is on the Global Nomadic Art Project with me in South Africa, to name me two lucky numbers, so that I have a totally impartial selection.

It’s FREE… (and some insight into the life of an artist)

Yes, it’s free.

It seems these days one has to spell it out in capital letters or mention it over and over….

FREE… FREE… FREE…

…and then still somehow get misunderstood or frowned upon.

In my last blog I shared with you the 21 Secrets Color, Color, Color! Fall 2016 Workshop at which I am a teacher and offered you the chance to receive one of these workshop packages valued at US $98 for … FREE.

I can give away two workshop packages at my own discretion to whomever I like. And I decided to offer this to my valuable supporters who follow my blog. By the way, I could have also just decided to gift them to my two best artist buddies as birthday gifts. 😉

From the mixed reactions I got, I guess something was not clear.

Some told me: This sounds fantastic, but I cannot afford it.

Really? Which part is not affordable? The FREE part? Taking a chance on winning? Or can’t you afford to leave a comment on my blog, or subscribe to my blog (which is the one favour I am asking in return, in order to be considered for my free gift)?

Others told me something in the line of: Oh, you just want to promote yourself… I am not going to share this or support you.

Hmmm, now, let me put it to you like this: YES, I do want to promote myself. But actually this was more about offering you the opportunity to get a FREE inspirational workshop to learn new skills. Remember I could have just given it to my buddies, who would have loved such a gift.

So just that you understand the thing of artists and promotion:

Unfortunately in this reality, artists have to do self-promotion in order to survive. We seldom have the luxury of a gallery or agent to do it for us. As an artist, I have my artwork, my experience and my knowledge to offer (and earn my money with). Most of that I generally offer for free most of the time. I generously share my artwork, creativity and experience and knowledge on various social media in order to inspire, uplift, entertain, delight or question. Everybody has access to it, without needing to pay or even say thank you.

And I am happy to share as much as I can, as generously as I can.

It might surprise you, but I, too, have to pay rent, buy food and pay for my medical aid, amongst others.

I can only pay my bills and make an honest living with the artworks I sell, or offering my expertise and experience. And in order to do that, I need people to know about my art and offerings. Ideally I need to have many people who know about my art… because not everyone either likes or buys an artwork or would participate in a workshop, or be willing to pay for my expertise.

That is the (sad?) reality of being an artist. We can only survive and keep on creating and sharing, if we put a lot of effort into promoting ourselves.

If more of the people, friends or blog or Facebook followers who enjoy my art and who find inspiration, solace or joy in what I have to offer, would tell their friends about it, then I could focus more on creating and sharing my art for free, than into promotion and marketing.

Instead I spend hours trying to make my offerings exciting and worthwhile AND then trying to promote my work as best I can.  I also take on opportunities where I can share my expertise in a workshop, get paid for it and have the possibility of earning a commission on any sales generated through my small community. I assume that is acceptable practice?

You might have also noticed, that I am always trying to offer some value in return. Like, hey, I am giving away stuff to the value of US $196 for free! All I am asking in return, is to follow my blog (so that you can receive more news and offerings from me and get to know me and my art better) and you can un-subscribe with one easy click at any time you like.

Discover the magic, myths, symbolism and effects behind the individual colours, create your personal colour reference guide with the ‘Colour a Day’ exercise and gain a deeper understanding how you can select and use colours for specific intention and purpose in your journal and life.

I will also share with you how colour is understood and used in Feng-Shui and in the seven main Chakras (energy centres) of the body. For the workshop I have compiled a lot of written content, fun and interesting exercises and 3 videos, where I share many thought-provoking aspects about color.

Just as some examples: Tori Weyers will teach you to tango with colour (Color Tango: Make your Colors Dance) while Mystele Kirkeeng will take you on an exploration of the colour of skin (Flesh in Living Color), she says: “When you really, really explore skin tones with color media, it becomes increasingly apparent how ridiculous it is that we still attempt to label the races monochromatically.“

You can learn how to easily create watercolour sunsets with Lorraine Bell or test the benefits of a limited palette and how to use it to your advantage from Jeanne Oliver.

Connie Solera, the founder and director of this incredible 21 Secrets workshop series, will teach you how to boldly overcome the point where you are too scared to continue as you fear you are messing up your artwork, but know that it is not finished yet.

If you do not know me yet, here is a short description of who I am:

“Can we create rain through a creative process?” This question, together with my deep-seated curiosity, interest in shamanism and alternative worldviews and stubborn insistence that we can make the world a better place have guided my journey as a multi-passionate creative being. I love uncovering the deeper meanings and mysteries of life and figuring out how everything is connected.

I am a Namibian multi-media artist, rainmaker and curator. I grew up in the desert of Namibia and since 2010 I am splitting my time between my home country and Germany, between the desert and the forest. I have completed my Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts at the University of South Africa and have won Namibia’s most influential art competition, the Standard Bank Namibia Biennale, twice.

My artistic expression is versatile, with a strong attraction towards nature and land art. I also enjoy sharing the joy of creativity with others, through joined projects, workshops, interventions in public spaces and via my blog.
