The works of this series originated between 2008 and 2010 and were first exhibited in a joint exhibition New Works with fellow Namibian artist Silke Berens in October 2010 at Studio 77 in Windhoek, Namibia.
White figures, outlined shapes, figures suspended in undefined spaces, a minimalist palette and a combination of graphical and painterly aspects make up this series of work. Although the viewer recognizes familiar motives, the artworks have a dreamlike and illogical atmosphere. With these works, Imke explores how the immediate proximity of seemingly unrelated figures and shapes within an image comment, change and add to the interpretation of each other and lead our logical mind towards an intuitive interpretation.
