INERTIA – is “a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.”
The Heilstätte Grabowsee lies in a state of deep inertia and slow decay, unless an outside force changes it. I tried to do this in a very small, but conscious and caring way, through this artwork.
Every piece of broken glass was washed with my bare hands, to clean it from the dust and debris of many years. This action also reinforced the understanding that such actions can be dangerous if done mindlessly or in a hurry.
The pieces were arranged over a found piece of old, broken Linolium, as if one covers a wound and at the same time protects it against intruders.
Sometimes inertia is the safest state, until a real powerful force is ready to force or lure it into a new direction and movement.
