Weisser’s image: details of a window design with a face of an angel
Rust’s ‘answer’: Looking up through the windhow one can see the sky. Rust has chosen to overlay this with an image of a Namibian windmill. These windmills are typical sights in the Namibian rural areas, as they are used to pump up the precious and life-giving groundwater. The shape of the head of the windmill connects visually to the star-like design/shape of the windows in Weisser’s pictures. The windmill is also a reference to Rust’s background as the daughter of a farmer. And water is one of the most precious, important and scarce natural assets of Namibia.
